The Effect of Reward, Punishment and Organisational Climate on Employee Performance Through Job Satisfaction as A Mediating Variable at The Regional Revenue Management Agency (Bappenda) of NTB Province

ABSTRACT:This study aims to examine the effect of reward, punishment, and organisational climate onperformance and job satisfaction of NTB Province Bappenda employees, as well as the mediating role of jobsatisfaction on the effect of reward, punishment, and organisational climate on employee performance. This typeof research is causal associative with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using the census method with92 respondents of Bappenda employees of NTB Province. Data analysis techniques using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS software version 3. The results showed that reward has a significant positive effect on employeeperformance and job satisfaction, punishment has a significant negative effect on employee performance and jobsatisfaction, organisational climate has a significant positive effect on employee performance but not significanton job satisfaction. Job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on employee performance. There is anindirect effect of reward and punishment on employee performance through job satisfaction, as well as anindirect effect of organisational climate on employee performance through job satisfaction although notsignificant. The study recommends giving appropriate rewards and fair punishment to employees, as well ascreating an organisational climate that supports work so as to increase job satisfaction and employeeperformance of Bappenda NTB Province.
