AN ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATION SHIFT ON THEME OF RISE OF THE GUARDIANS MOVIE FROM ENGLISH TO INDONESIA

ABSTRACT: This research entitled An Analysis of Translation Shift on Theme of Rise of the GuardiansMovie From English to Indonesia. The researcher uses Catford(1956) theory to analyze, they are structure shift,class shift, unit shift, and intra-system shift from English to Indonesia. This research focused to: Whattranslation shift are used in Rise of the Guardians Movie? And What translation shift is most used in the Rise ofthe Guardians Movie?. This research is qualitative research used content analysis method to analyze based oncontext text.The data used Rise of the Guardians Movie. The data collection methods were searching the movie,searching the subtitle, adjust the movie, and watching. Techniques to analyze the data were collecting,identifying, classifying, and then analyzing all the data. The result of this research show the first most used isstructure shift 36 cases or 57%, the second most used is unit shift 16 cases or 25%, the third most used intrasystem shift 10 cases or 15%,and the fourth most used class shift 2 cases or 3%
