ABSTRACT:This study is an analysis of female characters in novels (wattpad stories) in cyberspace written bycontemporary authors. This study examined three (3) novels that can be read in cyberspace written by youngwriters. They are as follows: 1.) Ms. Nobody is halfhearted; 2.) The Crazy Woman and Two Handsome Men bymaybeme25; 3.) MyObsessed FANGIRL by ZdnElle; The purpose of the study was to discover the obstacles thatserved as hindrances to the development of women’s personality. In the three (3) novels reviewed in this studythe obstacle to personality development in the belief according to the researcher and respondents is the esteemof the family and inability to prioritize oneself, in the status of women being submissive to avoid enmity, while inthe role of the family is to be a wife and mother because the role of women is given more value so neglectoneself and the latter is the ability in the arts and mass media is limited and there is no time for self -development. This study is qualitative or descriptive research in the field of literature. This method was used todescribe the characteristics of each article reviewed. The study also used content analysis which will use asystematic classification and analysis of the document content according to the criteria. Qualitative contentcriticism according to Valbuena (1985) is based on the presence or absence of a particular content, requirescareful reading of the texts and will be followed by summary and interpretation. And the following conclusionswere drawn: Obedience to the status of women served as an obstacle to the development of women’spersonality, their belief, according to researchers and respondents or trouble between their spouses, while theirrole in the family, being a wife and mother is overemphasized so self-neglected and the latter in their ability inart and mass media is limited and there is no time to develop themselves and instead prioritize familyobligations
