Level of Competence in Writing Essay: Basis for The Development of Educational Video In Grade 7 And 8

ABSTRACT :The study aimed to assess the level of competence in writing essay and develop educationalvideo for the grade 7 and 8 students of Santiago Integrated School, Bangan-Capayawan Integrated School atCarael Integrated School,Botolan, Zambales. A.Y. 2022-2023. The research design used was descriptiveresearch design.Conclusion was drawn based on the result: The level of competence in writing essay of thestudent was Intermediate in terms of process and skills in narrating the introduction and body of the essay, whilebeginners for the writing the end or conclusion of essay. Intermediate in organization of ideas while beginners inwriting coherence and emphasis. It was also found out the students are beginners for mechanics includingcapitalization and spelling. The students agreed on the challenges encountered in writing essay. Ther is nosignificant relationship between level of competence and challenges encountered in writing essay. Theintervention developed was called TALA-SERYE. Recommendation was drawn based on the result andconclusion. Teacher may use creative and approaches in teaching to develop student competence in writing. Useproper multimedia to keep up with the times in teaching. Include in the learning activity session thedevelopment of writing skills of the students.
