AN ANALYSIS OF CODE MIXING USED IN NET TV TALK SHOW PROGRAM

ABSTRACT: This research intended to find out the types and the functions of code-mixing in Cinta LauraKhiel’s utterances in “Ini Talk Show” Net Tv Talk Show Program. This research analyzed the types and thefunctions of code-mixing used in Cinta Laura Khiel’s utterances. In conducting this research, the researchersused qualitative design with content analysis because the data were collected from document, in form of wordswith the text as an instrument. The researchers used two videos selected that has been uploaded by youtubeaccount chanel Net Tv to be analyzed. The researchers analyzed the types of code-mixing with Suwito’s theory.While for the functions the researchers used Hoffman’s theory.This research finding showed that there were thetypes and the functions found in Cinta Laura Khiel’s utterances. The types of code-mixing were of Insertion ofWord is 69 %, the types of Insertion of Phrase is 7.7 %, The types of Insertion of Hybrid 7.7 %, The types ofInsertion of Word Reduplication is 4%, The types of Insertion of Clause is 7.7%, and the last is The types ofInsertion of Idiom is 4%. The dominant types of code-mixing used in Cinta Laura Khiel’s utterances is Insertionof Word, while for the functions of code-mixing were Talking about particular topic is 77%, the functions ofBeing emphatic about something is 11%, the functions of Repetition used for clarification is 4%, and the last isthe functions of Intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor is 8%. The dominant functions ofcode-mixing used in Cinta Laura Khiel’s utterances is Talking about particular topic.
