CLOZE PASSAGE SA PAGTUTURO NG FILIPINO AT KASANAYAN SA PAGSULAT NG SANAYSAY

ABSTRACT : This study focuses in the use ofCloze Passage as strategy in Teaching Filipino and writing skills of learners. Experimental researchwas used in the studyto determine the effect of Cloze Passage strategy in writing essay. Pre-test and Post-test (writing essay with rubrics) was given to the respondents to determine the writing skills of learners before and after using the strategy. Data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation and analyzed with frequency and percentage in terms of content, organization, and mechanics in writing: correct usage of words, punctuation marks and spellings.T-test was utilized to determine whether thereis significant difference between the writing skills of learners before and after using Cloze Passage as strategy in teaching. Respondents were 50 Grade 6 students of Jose Rizal Elementary School who were selected through purposive sampling. The result showed that there was significant difference between the writing skills of learners before and after using the strategy. Additionally, some respondents remained good in the correct usage of words and punctuation marks while other respondents became excellent in writing in terms of content, organization and spelling of words. From the results, mean score of the learners in writing essay increased and large percentage of respondents became good in writing, it showed that Cloze Passage strategy is helpful in developing the writing skills of learners specifically in writing essay.
