DEPENDENCY THEORY AS THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK FOR ANALYSIS OF RECIPROCAL RELATIONS BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND NIGERIA. (1960-2010).

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to highlight the use of Dependency theory as a theoretical framework in espousing the arguments in my PhD dissertation which is titled “A HISTORY OF RECIPROCAL RELATIONS BETWEEN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND NIGERIA FROM 1960 TO 2010. This study reveals that powerful nation states dominate and stifle the economies of dependent nation states, economically politically and militarily. These are achieved through bilateral and multilateral agreements and obligations hence the principle of reciprocity is unequeal amongst nation states.
