Feedback and the imposed use of ICTsin the Moroccan English department

ABSTRACT: The spread of Covid-19 in 2020 has imposed the use of ICTs in higher education institutions allover the world. This includes some third world countries where professors and students have been reluctant toupgrade their teaching methods and tools. As such, thecurrent study’s main objective is to account for theeffects of this compulsory upgrade on the provision of feedback by Moroccan university professors. To achievethis goal, the study explores the Moroccan professors’ views of feedback as well as the frequency and types offeedback they could provide before the 2020 lockdown. The study also enquires aboutthe changes that ICTscould presentin the new context. This study, which claims that the high student-teacher ratio in Morocco is themain obstacle to feedback provision, concludes that most Moroccan professors do want to provide feedback, and that the use ofICTs did affect the frequency and the types of the provided feedback positively.
