LIBIDO ET CHRÉTIENTÉ CHEZ SAINT AUGUSTIN

ABSTRACT : This article aims to identify the problematic of sexuality in Saint Augustine, because, with him, there is a theorization of a stigmatization of sexuality, which has its source in his experience of a life of concupiscence and reading neoplatonic and New Testament texts. This theorization then made it possible to institute an ecclesiastical asceticism as a means of freeing oneself from the life of concupiscence. But this asceticism has proved to be a failure given the many ethical scandals observed in the ecclesiastical body. This is why we proposed to subsist to the ideal of asceticism that of a Christian hedonism suitable for a real rehabilitation of sexuality within ethics.
