Orientation Center And Environmental Monitoring Of Settlements In Islamic Boarding School

ABSTRACT:Background:The existence of GadingmanguIslamic boarding school in the middle of the global can becomeone of the interesting object to study, considering that this islamic boarding school is improved of educationarea. Since the beginning of this islamic boarding school, they have lived in harmony with the community. Ifobserved, there is a strong will to protect traditional culture in the middle of the global culture this day.There are three problem which considered in this research. First is to see how the interaction process betweenthe islamic boarding school and the surrounding societies, and which space and environment setting have afunction as media for social interaction between the islamic boarding school and the neighbourhood. Second,how is the attitude and behavior of the community about the existence of GadingmanguIslamic boarding schoolsettlement. The aims of this study is to see cultural values of islamic boarding school which used in thesettlement.Materials and Methods:The methodologies used are relevant literature studies and field case studies. Theapplication of defensible space theory and intensive study of physical and non physical aspects of theenvironment, studying the settlement of Gadingmanguislamic boarding school, involving the fields ofarchitecture, environmental psychology, and sociology.Results: The research results is to find the concept of space surveillance settlement can be considered byphysical aspects. Physically, there is a setting which reflect strong interaction between the islamic boardingschoolGadingmanguand the settlement nearly.Conclusion: the interaction between the Islamic boarding school and the surrounding community is an effectiveform of environmental monitoring
