RESPONSIBILITY OF WAREHOUSE OPERATOR ON WAREHOUSE RECEIPT SYSTEM COMMODITIES AS COLLATERAL FOR CREDIT IN INDONESIA

ABSTRACT : This research aims to examine the existence of warehouse receipt system as collateral in term ofproviding credit facilities and as a form of responsibility of warehouse operator if commodities stored in acertain period of time are damaged. This research used normative method by examining literature material orsecondary data. Research problems studied were urgency of warehouse receipt system as collateral for creditand responsibility of warehouse operator on warehouse receipt system commodities. The result of this researchwas Warehouse Receipt System aimed to improve the standard of living of farmers so that they would not beoppressed by middlemen or financiers when it came into harvest season, one of which was farmers were able toapply for credit with their crops as collateral. Besides, the crops can also be sold when the price was consideredquite favorable. If during the storage period, the commodities were found to be damaged or lost, then thewarehouse operator as the supervisor was fully responsible for the damage of the commodities.
